one step

I understand my artistic work as a space that I can open to reflect and illustrate. I am concerned with creating a coexistence between vision and reality, the fleetingness of the moment, in a hybrid guise, a space in which presence and absence can be experienced simultaneously.

The pictorial language based on the ornament opens to me the possibility of giving expression to such controversial sensations and the paradoxes that arise from them, capturing the this moment. Ornaments are abstractions that elevate the mundane in an idealized state and allow the viewer to have sensual experiences of the harmonious forms. The balanced and rhythmic appearance of ornament is confidence inspiring and often soothing. At the same time, it is a dazzling alternate being. The suggested flawlessness is seductive and close aesthetics of a décor pretends an easy readability. I use this seduction deliberately to force a reversal of perception.
